Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports – printing problems
In order to print a report to a network printer you must set the hrcConfig file to
UseSharedMemory = 1
Default setting is 0

If your DB is using Windows NT Authentication you need set hrcConfig file to connection method = 1
Default setting is 0 which is mixed mode

If you ever need to restore your UCCX CRA_DB and create reports that match Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports here’s the short cut.
set the hrcConfig file LogLevel = 3 , ( logLevel = 3 then debug messages, warnings and errors)
Launch Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports on a client, select and run a report
Find the CiscoAppReports0 file by default the file is located in
C:\Program Files\Cisco UCCX Historical Reports\logs\(Machine name)_CiscoAppReports0
You will see the stored procedure that was executed in the file; it will look something like this:
Exec db_cra.dbo.sp_agent_summary '$StartDate', '$EndDate', $SortBy, N'$ResourceGroup', N'$AgentName', N'$SkillName', N'$TeamName', $TopRatio, $BottomRatio, $TopHold, $BottomHold, $TopTalk, $BottomTalk, $TopWrap, $BottomWrap, $TopHandle, $BottomHandle 117: 3/15/2010 3:44:09 PM %CHC-LOG_SUBFAC-7-UNK:DB Layer Current Query=Exec db_cra.dbo.sp_agent_summary '03/14/2010 12:00:00 AM', '03/15/2010 12:00:00 AM', 0, N'NULL
Copy and paste in the management studio run against the DB of the server.
Execute the query and the results will match what would have been available in Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports
The above scenario is great if you are running UCCX using MSDE and the db purges after 2gb or if you have just migrated and do not want to import historical data.
Additionally you can prove or disprove the application is having problems not the database.
Just make sure you have a backup scheduled to run daily so you can restore prior to running the report.

This is a wonderful school. http://www.fsdb.k12.fl.us/ I know because my niece Charli McCleary and nephew Ryan McCleary attend this school. As a matter of fact Ray Charles attended this school. Their mother, my sister, Mo McCleary is a software engineer that is also visually impaired. All three of them have optic nerve atrophy, basically the vision they have is doesn't get them far in this visual world, everyone reads braille and no one can or will drive a vehicle. Mo being the strong competitive individual that she is, has no tolerance for pity or excuses, and absolutely will not tolerate her children sitting in a dark corner silently. Her husband Al McCleary supports and encourages them 100% . Mo and Al have been together for 23 years. They provide an educationally enriching environment for both of their children, promoting all actives that sight is not required. Amazingly enough sight is not essential for a lot of activities such as Judo, unicycling, and believe it or not operating a computer. With the help of Windows eyes, Jaws and other screen reading software computer technology is an attainable goal.
I know that Charli and Ryan are living proof that with the proper training and encouragement a future in computer technology is not unreachable or unrealistic for them. However the challenge is getting individuals that can keep up with the technology that is available for the visually impaired children and share this with the children so they to can shine and be productive members of society.
My goal is to see what I can do to close the gap and get the information and technology to these children . You don't need eyes to comunicate or think.

MySQL

I have been putting off getting to know MySQL for sometime.....had to finally go there. Found it easiest to download the management tool from: http://www.mysql.com/
then I had to adjust the credentials on the server to allow access. Added a myself and gave myself necessary permissions to access the DB. I found this better then working directly on the server like you would work with SSMS. Querying was similar to MSSQL, just extremely scaled down.

SP_WHO and SP_WHO2

These commands return information regarding the connections to the SQL Server.
SP_WHO2 returns more details such as date and time and CPU usage.

This can be useful when you are trying to determine if anyone is on. You will see the machine name and logged on user, as well as the database that is connected to the specified application.

Task pad
An option in 2000 that shows an overview of the database such as the size of the file, date and time of last back up. Option is located on the view menu from the tool bar.

Later versions of SQL have Reports, available by right clicking on the db and selecting reports. Reports are customizable, and more detailed.

Shrink data files process

Think about an 8 oz cup that is only holding 1 oz of water. You can use a 4 oz cup to hold the water and it would be easier to store. You must consider why the decision was to us an 8oz cup to begin with. Often a large purge creates a half empty cup. Once the need has been established, below are the steps that I took to shrink a 30gb file that only needed 4gb of space.

1.
Review the transaction log size prior to the shrinking process.

USE YOURDB
GO
SELECT *
FROM sysfiles
WHERE name LIKE '%LOG%'
GO

2.
Set the database recovery model to 'simple'.

USE YOURDB
GO
ALTER DATABASE YOURDB SET RECOVERY SIMPLE
GO

3.
Issue a checkpoint against the database to write the records from the transaction log to the database.

USE YOURDB GO
CHECKPOINT
GO

4.
Ttruncate the transaction log.

USE YOURDB
GO
BACKUP LOG YOURDB WITH NO_LOG
GO

5.
Record the logical file name for the transaction log to use in the next step.

USE YOURDB GO
SELECT Name
FROM sysfiles
WHERE name LIKE '%LOG%'
GO

6.
Free the unused space in your transaction log and return the space back to the operating system, shrink the transaction log file.

USE YOURDB
GO
DBCC SHRINKFILE (YOURDB_New_Empty_Log, 100)
GO

7.
Review the database transaction log size to verify it has been reduced.

USE YOURDB
GO
SELECT *
FROM sysfiles
WHERE name LIKE '%LOG%'

To Shrink the DATA File

8.
Review the DATA File size prior to the shrinking process.

USE YOURDB
GO
SELECT *
FROM sysfiles
WHERE name LIKE '%DATA%'

9.
Shrink the DATA File in MB to the size you want the file to be, it can’t be smaller than the actual file.
